just another day

Hey all,
So, things have gotten to a point where we are comfortable with our house and comfortable with our daily lives. The only problem is that on a daily basis we struggle with what to fill our day. Since we are not living in our own flat, there is very little to do around the house. Our flatmates are rediculously tidy, so we rarely have any clean-up to do. When we do clean the house, it doesn't take very long and then it seems that we are back to square one. A typical day where Paul and I are home together involves us asking each other "so...what do you want to do today?" We are hoping that we develop some sort of hobby or interest in something, as we are growing rather bored. Most days we try to explore a little bit of our suburb or travel into town. Other days, especially when it rains, there seems to be nothing to do but sit on the couch. So, here we are half around the world, watching the same television programs that we could watch at home. Here's a picture of daily life in New Zealand...

ha ha, that is a really funny picture. We really do love it here, but we need to experience more of New Zealand than kiwi t.v. We're hoping to go to Wellington's museum on the weekend. It's New Zealand's national museum, and it has a Lord of the Rings exhibit right now, so that should be pretty cool.

Also, we have joined a small-group bibly study which is studing Rick Warren's 40 days of community. We are pretty excited about having a bible study again, as we haven't had that for a long time, even at home. That will really help us to feel more secure and at home here. The small group is run by a couple that we met at our first sunday at Karori Baptist Church. They have been really good to us, and we're really glad that we are in their group. So far, all Kiwi's seem to be abnormally friendly and helpful, which is great. Our flatmates are always helping us out, they even agreed to let Paul drive their car to work at night so he doesn't have to walk home at 3:00 in the morning. We just have to keep thanking God for blessing us SO much on our trip so far...it really is astounding what can happen if you just trust him. I have learned a LOT about trusting God this trip, it has been trying at times. Yet, he surprises us again and again by providing for us and keeping us safe. We feel really blessed and joyful with our year so far.

We miss you all a lot, please keep in touch!!
Yolanda
