Pictures!

Finally, a well deserved day out. We were so excited to check out some interesting sights in Wellington, so we decided to make a day of it. We started off by taking a cable car ride from the CBD (Central Business District...i.e. downtown) to the Botanical Gardens. That was pretty neat, it is just a steady grade straight track up the mountain with only a few stops. It only cost us a couple of dollars, so we were pretty happy to do that (we are dutch, you know!). The cable car stops at the "cable car museum" which was interesting, but fairly small. We then went to walk around the Botanical Gardens.
TheGardens are well maintained and it is a beautiful walk. Of course, I spent a great deal of time watching the ducks...for those of you that know me that isn't exactly out of the ordinary.
Here are a few pictures of the gardens!

It's good to finally be able to show you all some pictures of New Zealand, as so far the pictures have been pretty boring. I apologize for being so slow to do this, but we had lost our USB cable for the camera. Anyway, after the Gardens we decided to go for a drive. This is really the best way to explore a new country or city, not having a plan is usually the best plan. At least, for us, it was. We came across a really gorgeous spot in Lyall Bay, its existence completely unknown to us. We went for a quick walk/climb on the rocks, and then drove on further along the coast. Here's a few cool shots of the scenery.

Well, that's all for now. We are really enjoying New Zealand and we can't wait to see the rest of it. We are also really looking forward to having our parents (my mom and dad and Paul's dad) come up in December and January. We are really happy to know that we will be able to share all of this excitement with our family!
